Pride Of India Long Grain Jasmine Rice is grown in the mountainous highlands of Thailand and is popularly called 'Hom Mali' rice due to its sweet fragrance and aroma. This gourmet rice gives a unique flowery scent while cooking and is praised for its silky soft white fluffy grains that enhance the flavor of the ethnic or oriental curries.

Directions

Use: 2 Cups water per 1 cup dry rice. Add 1 tsp oil if desired.

Stovetop:

1. Soak rice for 15-20 minutes.2. Rinse thoroughly and drain water.3. Add water in a wide pot and heat on low uncovered.4. Once the water is at the level of the rice, cover the pot.5. Allow to sit for 10-15 minutes. Serve hot.

Rice Cooker/Microwave:

1. Prep Rice same as above.2. Use a microwave safe dish or rice cooker. Heat for 15-20 minutes on medium heat covered. Serve hot.

SHRIMP FRIED RICE

RECIPE:

We, here, at Pride of India believe that our jasmine rice tastes heavenly with a thai curry but to quench the curiousness of cooking gourmet food, here is our favorite recipe for jasmine rice.

Pre-cook the rice as per the cooking instructions above. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok or pan over medium heat. Add 1 tbsp. each of spring onion, minced garlic, chopped green chillis and stir for a minute.

Put 1 cup of carrots and green peas and stir for 2 minutes. Take out the cooked vegetables in a separate bowl and put 1 cup of prawns in the same wok or pan. Add salt and pepper to the prawns and cook each side for 1 minute. Add 1 tsp. white vinegar and mix well.

Stir in the cooked vegetables, the cooked rice, 1 tsp. soy sauce, salt and pepper according to taste. Mix well. Stir for about 5-6 minutes. Garnish with spring onions and eggs sunny side up before serving hot.
